Said every mom ever! We know how you feel and that’s why we are here to help. Dr. Larsen and the team at Buckhead Plastic Surgery have been making mommy makeover dreams comes true for over 20 years.
If you’ve recently given birth, then you are probably still reeling from the excitement of a new baby, but also from the changes in your body. Most women notice a drastic change in the size and shape of their breasts, stretch marks and sagging in their tummy, and new pockets of stubborn fat in different parts of their body that won’t go away with diet and exercise. This is why plastic surgeons like Dr. Larsen perform the mommy makeover: it is a procedure designed to give a mommy the body she had prior to pregnancy and childbirth. Finally, moms can feel confident in their bodies again after childbirth.
The mommy makeover typically involves a few surgeries that are done in a single-stage procedure. Some of the most common procedures done during a mommy makeover include:
A tummy tuck helps remove loose skin, stretch marks, and excess fatty tissue while tightening the abdominal muscles. This involves cutting out skin and fat on the abdomen and tightening of the muscles from the sternum down to the mons pubic area. After that, the skin around the belly button is repositioned and the belly button is pulled out through a small incision, so it looks normal. Dr. Larsen is known for incredibly low incisions that are well hidden in a bikini and natural-looking belly buttons. Oftentimes liposuction of the flanks is performed simultaneously to achieve the ultimate waistline contour.
Liposuction is a less invasive procedure than a tummy tuck and involves making tiny incisions in the target area, inserting a hollow rod, called a cannula, through the hole and sucking out pockets of fat. Even if you plan on getting a tummy tuck during your mommy makeover, liposuction can help reduce fat in other areas, such as your flanks, hips, arms, thighs, and buttocks.
A breast lift does exactly what it says—it can treat sagging breasts, drooping nipples, and stretched areolas by lifting the breasts. Under general anesthesia, your surgeon will make incisions around your breasts (where those incisions go depend on different factors like how much excess skin there is and the position of your nipples) and reposition and reshape the breast tissue. Excess skin can also be removed at this time. If needed, your surgeon can also resize the areolas before closing the incision.
If you also want your breasts enhanced or reduced, then you will need to get a breast augmentation or reduction.
Breast augmentation helps enhance your breasts’ size and shape. In this procedure, your surgeon makes incisions under and around the breasts and places implants either under the pectoral muscles or over them. Implants are either made with saline or silicone, silicone being the preferred implant, but it is also possible to use fat from other parts of your body and inject it into your breasts.
A breast reduction helps to reduce the size of your breasts, which is typically desired if your breasts cause pain or discomfort. Your surgeon makes incisions on your breasts and removes excess fat, breast tissue, and skin.
